Rachael Henderson received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from FloridaStateUniversity.  Her local performances have included appearances with the CSO, Choral Arts, and the Scenic City Chorale. She has appeared as a frequent soloist and choir member with the Chattanooga Bach Choir, most recently in Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer, and Purcell’s Come Ye Sons of Art. She also appeared as Suor Genovieffa in Opera Festival di Roma’s production of Suor Angelica, Maria in Little General Playhouse’s production of The Sound of Music, and Sally in Neighborhood Playhouse’s production of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown

 

Soprano Beth DuRoyhas been described by Classical Voice of North Carolinain as having a delivery that is “bright and vigorous” and that “left one wanting to hear more.” Her opera performances include appearances with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera as Cousin in Madama Butterfly, as Elizabeth in UNCG’s production of The Ballad of Baby Doe, Susanna in the American Singers Opera Project production of Le Nozze di Figaro, Esmerelda in The Bartered Bride with the UNCG Opera Theatre, as Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor with the Bethesda Summer Music Festival, and most recently as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas with Echo Early Music Festival. DuRoy has been awarded top prize three times in local and regional National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions and has given recitals in NC, TN, and MD.Recent performances include recitals at BryanCollege, University of TN Chattanooga, Southern Adventist University, The Hunter Museum of Art and most recently Asheville Lyric Opera.  Upcoming solo performances include BWV 80, Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott with Asheville Choral Society and “A Taste of Opera” with Asheville Lyric Opera in June.  Ms. DuRoy received the Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

 

Andrea Dismukeshas performed in opera, oratorio, chamber music and traditional solo recitals. She has appeared as Madame Flora in Menotti’s The Mediumat the University of Alabama, as the title character in scenes from Bizet’s Carmen, and, as the winner of the Concerto/Aria 2000, as Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther. Actively involved in music in the area, Dismukes performs regularly with the Choral Arts of Chattanooga and the Rouéche Chorale of Chattanooga, performing solos in the Her choral and solo experience includes performances of Durufle’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah, as well as numerous Bach cantatas and Mozart masses. Highlights include a performance of Vivaldi's Gloria with the Bulgarian Radio Symphony in Sofia, Bulgaria and spending part of a summer with the Berkshire Choral Festival, rehearsing daily and performing at the Canterburyand Rochester Cathedrals. In the fall of 2005, Dismukes and colleague Tony Deaton premiered David Holsinger’s Songs of This War, a chamber piece for mezzo-soprano and baritone, conducted by the composer. Though a veteran of classical performance, she is equally comfortable performing repertoire from the musical theater, jazz, gospel and rhythm and blues traditions. She has made solo appearances with Ron Kenoly, internationally recognized worship leader and recording artist for Integrity’s Hosanna. In 1996, she was featured in a televised concert for Georgia Public Television as one of six finalists in the American Traditions Competition for Singers at the Savannah Onstage International Arts Festival.  An Assistant Professor of Music on the voice faculty of Lee UniversitySchool of Music, she has directed the Ladies of Lee and taught diction for voice majors (English, Italian, German, French) while maintaining a sizable private voice studio.

 

A Chattanooganative and UTC graduate, Harv Wilemanhas lived and worked in the Washington, D.C.area where he made debuts in such venues as the Kennedy Center Concert Hall (in Handel’s Messiah) and the National Cathedral (in Rachmaninoff’s Vespers).  He has also appeared as a soloist with such organizations as Victorian Lyric Opera, the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, the Washington Savoyards, Sarasota Pops Orchestra, Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, New Jersey Concert Opera, and the Chattanooga Choral Society for the Preservation of African-American Song. He completed his Master of Music degree from LeeUniversity in 2008.

 

 

Sanford Shaw has taught French and Spanish for over 40 years and is currently Professor of Modern Languages at CovenantCollege.  He grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, majored in French at MiddleburyCollege, and has a Ph.D. in Romance linguistics from CornellUniversity.  He has played the piano and sung in choral groups since age six and has participated in choral festivals in Taiwan, Korea, Argentina, and Italy, and has sung in concerts in California, Quebec, Germany, and Eastern Europe.
