Bach and Victoria

Join us Wed 12/16/15 at 12:05pm for the second in our Barnett & Co. Cantata Series is combined with the Advent Concert Series at St. Paul’s Church. Organist Karla Fowkes will play J. S. Bach’s organ prelude Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (Savior of the Nations Come) and the Bach Choir and Chamber Orchestra will perform Cantata 61 by the same title. BWV 61 was written for the first Sunday in Advent and the entire cantata calls for the “coming of the savior”. The Choir will also present a renaissance motet by Victoria, “Ecce Dominus veniet” that was performed by Bach and his choristers in the Advent season. Music Director David Long will conduct the performance with guest artists Laura Childers, Soprano, Russell Draeger, Tenor and David Tahere, Bass.
